Hello, Please ask a question about WRE-YD-4W Datasheet
# Example questions:
➢ What is the recommended minimum load (as a percentage of the rated load) for these dc/dc converters to ensure efficient and reliable operation?
➢ What should you do if the actual output power is very small to avoid increased ripple and reduced efficiency?
➢ What is the rated voltage (for 60 seconds) and resistance for isolation between input and output?
1. Product Series & Purpose:
️· Series: WRE-YD-4W & WRF-YD-4W. These are DC/DC converters (direct current to direct current voltage regulators).
️· Function: They take a DC input voltage and convert it to a lower DC output voltage. They are designed for reliable and efficient power conversion.
2. Input Specifications (What the converter needs):
️· Input Voltage Ranges:
- 12VDC: 9~18V
- 24VDC: 18~36V
- 48VDC: 36~72V
️· Input Filter: Pi Network
️· Isolation Voltage (safe voltage between input and output): 3000VDC (for 60 seconds)
- Resistance: > 1000 MOhm
- Capacitance: 120pF (typical)
3. Environmental Specifications (Conditions of operation):
️· Ambient Operating Temperature: -40°C to +85°C
️· Storage Temperature: -55°C to +125°C
️· Case Temperature: Maximum +100°C
️· Humidity: Up to 90% (non-condensing)
️· Cooling: Free-air convection
️· Derating: No derating required. *This means the full rated power can be drawn without issue within the temperature range.*
️· Power Derating at High Temperatures: If the ambient temperature is above 71°C, the output power should be reduced to no more than 60% of the rated power.
4. Output Specifications (What the converter provides):
️· Voltage Accuracy: ±1% (maximum)
️· Voltage Balance (for dual output converters): ±1%
️· Ripple & Noise (at 20MHz bandwidth): 60mVp-p (maximum). *This refers to the unwanted "noise" or variation on the output voltage.*
️· Short Circuit Protection: Continuous (the converter can withstand short circuits)
️· Short Circuit Restart: Automatic
️· Line Voltage Regulation: ±0.5% (maximum)
️· Load Voltage Regulation: ±0.5% (maximum)
️· Temperature Coefficient: ±0.02%/°C (typical)
5. Physical Specifications (Dimensions & Weight):
️· Dimensions: 31.75 x 20.32 x 10.16 mm (1.25 x 0.8 x 0.4 inches)
️· Weight: 19g
️· Case Material: Nickel-Coated Copper
6. General Performance Characteristics:
️· Efficiency: 73% to 81% (How well the converter converts energy; higher is better)
️· Switching Frequency: 250kHz (typical at 100% load)
️· MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures): > 1,036,000 hours (estimated reliability)
7. Important Usage Notes & Warnings:
️· Minimum Load: The output load *must* be no less than 10% of the rated load. Operating below this can lead to increased ripple and reduced reliability. If the load is too light, add a resistor to simulate a higher load.
️· No Parallel Connection or Plug-and-Play: These converters are *not* designed to be connected in parallel or hot-swapped (plugged in and unplugged while powered).
️· Dual Output Usage: If using a dual-output converter, don’t use only one output as a single output.
️· Derating at high temperature If ambient temperatures above 71°C, keep output power at a maximum of 60% of rated.
8. Recommended Circuit & Component Values:
️· Input Capacitors (Cin): 100μF for 12V and 24V inputs; 100μF - 47μF for 48V inputs.
️· Output Capacitors (Cout): 10μF/100mA.
️· Input Current: Input current of power supply should afford the startup current of this kind of DC/DC module (See figure 2).
️· Note Increasing capacitance can reduce ripple but must be proper, lest a startup problem arise.
