Proper layout is important for stability, EMI, as well as achieve higher efficiency and load transient response. • Place the input capacitors as close as possible to the input pins on the IC, and on the same side of the board as the IC. • Place the inductor and output capacitor close to the switch node of the IC. • Use a solid ground plane for the GND of the buck converters and controller, and use plenty of vias. • Keep the loop area formed by switch node, inductor, output capacitor, and ground as small as possible. • Route the analog grounds separately from the power grounds, and connect them at the ground plane. • Use short, wide traces for any trace which carries high current like regulator input, output, and ground traces.
