APPLICATION INFORMATION
To operate from a single +5.0V supply, the UTC UT232A include charge pump voltage converters which can
allow it. To generate the RS-232 output levels these converters convert the +5.0V input power to the ±9V needed.
The current drain due to charge pump operation is considerably reduced with this power supplied externally. The
UTC UT232A can operate over the commercial, industrial and military temperature ranges.
Connecting the capacitor to VCC (+5.0V) is recommended.
