General Description

ThisdeviceisFlashMemorytype8-bithighperformanceRISCarchitecturemicrocontroller.

OfferinguserstheconvenienceofFlashMemorymulti-programmingfeatures,thisdevicealso

includesawiderangeoffunctionsandfeatures.OthermemoryincludesanareaofRAMData

MemoryaswellasanareaofEEPROMmemoryforstorageofnon-volatiledatasuchasserial

numbers,calibrationdataetc.

Analogfeaturesincludeamulti-channel12-bitA/Dconverterfunction.Multipleandextremely

flexibleTimerModulesprovidetiming,pulsegeneration,captureinput,comparematchoutput,

singlepulseoutputandPWMgenerationfunctions.Communicationwiththeoutsideworldis

whichprovidedesignerswithameansofeasycommunicationwithexternalperipheralhardware.

ProtectivefeaturessuchasaninternalWatchdogTimerandLowVoltageResetcoupledwith

excellentnoiseimmunityandESDprotectionensurethatreliableoperationismaintainedinhostile

electricalenvironments.

Thisdevicealsocontainsatwolinetypepowerlinedatatransceiver.Insystemswhereamaster

controllercontrolsanumberofindividualinterconnectedsubsystemssuchasfoundinsmoke

detectorsystems,watermeteringsystems,solarenergysystem,etc.,thecostoftheextensive

interconnectingcablingcanbeamajorfactor.Bysendingdataalongthepowersupplylines,the

interconnectingcablescanbereducedtoasimpletwolinetype,thusgreatlyreducingbothcableand

installationcosts.

Withtheadditionofafewexternalcomponents,thispowerlinedatatransceiverdevicecontainsall

theinternalcomponentsrequiredtoprovideuserswithasystemforpowerlinedatatransmissionand

reception.Dataismodulatedontothepowerlinebythesimplereductionofthepowerlinevoltage

foraspecificperiodoftime.Powersupplyvoltagechangescanbeinitiatedbythemastercontroller

fordatareceptionorinitiatedbythepowerlinedatatransceiverfordatatransmission.Aninternal

voltageregulatorwithSoft-Startandshortcircuitprotectionfunctionwithinthedeviceensuresthat

aconstantvoltagepowersupplyisprovidedtotheinterconnectedsubsystemunitswhileaninternal

voltagedetectormonitorsthepowerlinevoltagelevel.Aninternalcomparatorisusedtotranslate

thedifferentialsignalintoalogicsignalfortheMCU.

Afullchoiceofinternallowandhighspeed,oscillatorfunctionsareprovidedincludingfully

integratedsystemoscillatorswhichrequirenoexternalcomponentsfortheirimplementation.The

abilitytooperateandswitchdynamicallybetweenarangeofoperatingmodesusingdifferent

clocksourcesgivesuserstheabilitytooptimisemicrocontrolleroperationandminimisepower

consumption.
