I2C Address Pin (ADDR)

This pin is used to set the I2C address. This pin can be

tied to VDD, GND, or a ratio of VDD can be selected to

set up to eight address levels using a resistive voltage

divider network.

Serial Clock Line (SCL)

The SCL is a clock input pin. All communication and

timing is relative to the signal on this pin. The clock is

generated by the host controller on the bus (see

Section 4.0 “Serial Communication”).

Serial Data Line (SDA)

SDA is a bidirectional input/output pin used to serially

transmit data to/from the host controller. This pin

requires a pull-up resistor (see Section 4.0 “Serial

Communication”).

Thermocouple Open/Short

Detection Input (VSENSE)

The VSENSE pin is a thermocouple detection input pin

(MCP9601/L01/RL01) and the voltage level on this pin

is used to determine whether the thermocouple is oper-

ating normally, shorted to VDD/VSS, or it is discon-

nected from the VIN+ and VIN- pins (see Figure 1-1).
