Port 8
This is an 8-bit port. If it is used for general purpose I/O, the direction of each line can be
configured via the corresponding direction register DP8. Each port line can be switched into
push-pull or open-drain mode via the open-drain control register ODP8.
In the ST10F296E, XASC (or ASC1) is implemented on pins P8.6 and P8.7. When the
module is enabled through the XPERCON register, the corresponding bits P8, DP8 and
ODP8 are overwritten by the new XS1PORT register (mapped on the XBus). This allows the
user to program pins P8.6 and P8.7 according to the ASC1 configuration.
