Driving the CHR71000
The following paragraphs describe how the CHR71000 sensor can be controlled. Controlling
the sensor is done in two ways:
By applying correct timing signals to the digital input pins
By setting the correct programmability options.
Programmability is supported by a number of on-chip registers that can be loaded with user
data. The contents of these registers define the way the different blocks on the chip operate.
A digital logic block on the sensor (called 'sequencer') can be used to control the chip timing. It
generates the timing pulses for the different blocks on the chip to work properly, based on
settings loaded in a number of registers. It is possible to bypass the sequencer and use
external pulses (digital input pins). The selection between internal or external timing can be
made by register upload (see further in this chapter). The default case is external timing.
