Programming Considerations
TheTMCounterRegistersandtheCapture/CompareCCRAandCCRPregisters,being10-bit,all
havealowandhighbytestructure.Thehighbytescanbedirectlyaccessed,butasthelowbytes
canonlybeaccessedviaaninternal8-bitbuffer,readingorwritingtotheseregisterpairsmustbe
carriedoutinaspecificway.Theimportantpointtonoteisthatdatatransfertoandfromthe8-bit
bufferanditsrelatedlowbyteonlytakesplacewhenawriteorreadoperationtoitscorresponding
highbyteisexecuted.AstheCCRAandCCRPregistersareimplementedinthewayshowninthe
followingdiagramandaccessingtheregisteriscarriedoutinaspecificwaydescribedabove,it
isrecommendedtousethe“MOV”instructiontoaccesstheCCRAandCCRPlowbyteregisters,
namedTMxALandTMxRPL,usingthefollowingaccessprocedures.AccessingtheCCRAor
CCRPlowbyteregisterwithoutfollowingtheseaccessprocedureswillresultinunpredictable
values.
